Orange County Personal Trainers - The alternative!
From the desk of Dr. John Spencer Ellis, the Fitness Boot Camp Instructor and Personal Trainer featured on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Orange County.
Greetings to all of you who are seeking a personal trainer in Orange County, California.
Let me ask you a question….
Are you completely frustrated with the way you look and feel? When you look into your mirror (not fitting into clothes), are you simply fed up? At Orange County Adventure Boot Camp (the Orange County alternative to expensive personal training), we will help you address these common and frustrating issues. The result is a body that looks and feels incredible.
And let’s take a moment to discuss the cost of personal trainers in Orange County.
A qualified personal trainer can cost you as much as $125/hr. Ouch! At Orange County Adventure Boot Camp, we have a better solution. You can get top quality Orange County fitness training for just $14.95/hr. When you enroll in our VIBC program (details on our site), you can get the highest quality Orange County fitness training for just $9/session. Our personal trainers are degreed, certified, experienced and highly motivating. We demand the best of our trainers and they bring out the best in you.
Think of your fitness program like this…
Your time is valuable. You want and need results. You want to have fun. Boredom is NEVER an option. Our cost effective Orange County personal trainer alternative is incredibly effective, fun and goal oriented. You get to experience a rapid body makeover while sharing the experience with women just like you.
In short…
Personal training in Orange County can be expensive, but the Orange County Adventure Boot Camp cost as little as 7% of some personal trainers in Orange County.
Doing the same old exercises in a stuffy gym yield moderate results and get boring quickly. Our Orange County personal trainer alternative is new each day and gives you a highly sculpted body FAST!
Our trainers…….
QUALIFIED! That says it all. We only hire (and retain) the best fitness trainers Orange County. Go ahead and look around. NOBODY has the qualifications of our fitness trainers who teach our Orange County Boot Camps.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to helping you attain your fitness and personal success goals.
Be well!

OC Adventure Boot Camp~Fitness Boot Camp Classes for Women
OC Adventure Boot Camp has new offerings
December 3, 2008
From the desk of Dr. John Spencer Ellis
Greetings to all of you. 2009 will be our 10th year of Adventure Boot Camp. In that time, we have grown to become the largest fitness boot camp program in the world with over 320 authorized instructors in 9 countries. And, still, our corporately owned and operated OC camps have remained largely unchanged. We are all like a family! To celebrate our 10th year, we are adding a Newport Beach boot camp location. In addition, we are offering a 40% off VIBC (Very Important Boot Camper) special for those who commit to the year of 2009. Details at http://www.ocbootcamp.com. Remember, we still have one more 2-week holiday camp beginning December 8th. There are 3-day and 5-day options. We also have new instructors to introduce. You can learn about them here: http://ocbootcamp.com/aboutus.html
On another note, I have been hearing a lot on the news about holiday stress. Come on people! What's so stressful about visiting with people you routinely avoid the rest of the year, and driving in traffic with millions of other people doing the same? Here are some simple ways to reduce holiday stress:
1. Surprise, surprise - exercise greatly reduces holiday stress
2. Meditation has been proven in hundreds of medical studies to reduce stress (and even help cancer patients)
3. A bath with essential oils. Lavender is always a favorite scent for relaxation.
In closing, I want to remind you to have as much fun as possible this holiday season while you stay healthy.
Be well.
John
PS – Many of you have wanted a more detailed explanation of what The Compass movie and book are all about. Well, I was recently interviewed on an Australian TV show. Watch this short and informative video to get all the details. http://www.whoswhospeaks.com/flash/wws03.html

A Message to our OC Boot Campers
Actually, this is the best time in our history – Take advantage now
November 17, 2008
From the desk of Dr. John Spencer Ellis
Greetings to all of you.
Did you know this is actually one of the best possible times of our lives? I know. I know. With all that is happening on a local, national and global scale, how is this possible? Well, I’m glad you asked. I am happy to explain.
Times of great change offer the most opportunity to excel. Those who are most flexible in their perspectives, outlook, and ability to adapt are sure to prosper. From a biological perspective, when cells are growing, dividing, and expanding, they are more susceptible to outside influence (both good and bad). An example of a bad influence is that you should avoid having an X-ray exam when you are pregnant. The fetuses’ cells are rapidly dividing and could mutate. On the other hand, love from the mother boosts the baby’s health.
Life, in general, is the same. In this rapid time of change, we are influenced and must adapt (like it or not). So, make the conscious decision to change for the better. Open your eyes and your heart to all the new possibilities that surround you. There are many!
Regardless if your candidate won, or your proposition of choice was defeated, YOU MUST MOVE ON! Start your computer (brain)! What new opportunities now exist that did not 6 months ago? Is this a time for a career change? Has your schedule changed so you can exercise at a different time? Is there love in the air?
Look, everything in life is a choice. You are in control, and always have been. You can make the choice to respond favorably or not. Because you are in control, make the obvious choice to seek the best possible response to any stimulus or change. Now, like no other time in history, you have the opportunity to excel. Be creative. Become resourceful. Ask a better question. Seek a better response.
Here is a fun and useful challenge for you.
Are you ready? For one week beginning today, avoid the news, speak only in positive terms, read only material which enhance your life, avoid anyone who is negative in ANY WAY! And, do what I’m going to do. Find the local charities which are helping the recent fire victims. What an awesome feeling! It sure puts things into perspective.
Ok, start your challenge…………. NOW!
Have an outstanding day.

Homemade Breakfast Bars
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup soy flour
1/2 cup fat-free dry milk
1/2 cup toasted wheat germ
1/2 cup sliced (flaked) almonds or chopped pecans, toasted
1/2 cup dried apples, chopped
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup dark honey
1/2 cup natural unsalted peanut butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions
Preheat the oven to 325 F. Lightly coat a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with olive oil cooking spray.
In a large bowl, combine the oats, flour, dry milk, wheat germ, almonds, apples, raisins and salt. Stir well to blend and set aside.
In a small saucepan, stir together the honey, peanut butter and olive oil over medium-low heat until well blended. Don't let the mixture boil. Stir in the vanilla. Add the warm honey mixture to the dry ingredients and stir quickly until well combined. The mixture should be sticky but not wet.
Pat the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan. Press firmly to remove any air pockets. Bake just until the edges begin to brown, about 25 minutes. Let cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, and then cut into 24 bars. When just cool enough to handle, remove the bars from the pan and place them on the rack to cool completely. Store the bars in airtight containers in the refrigerator.

Fat Burning Foods for OC Boot Campers!
I found this article on the Health Magazine website, http://www.health.com/ and thought it was interesting. So interesting, that I wanted to share it. It something that everyone, not just OC Boot Campers, can work into their diet. Who knew these foods had fat burning properites?!
5 Surprising Fat Burners to Help You Lose Weight the Natural Way
Pears
Why you need them: Pack the fruit bowl with pears if you want to lose pounds, reports a study out of the University of Rio de Janeiro. In the study, which was published in the journal Nutrition, women who ate three pears a day consumed fewer total daily calories and lost more weight than those who didn’t. Rich in fiber (one pear packs 15% of your daily recommended amount), pears help you feel full and keep you from overeating.
Best way to work them in: Eat a pear before a meal to help curb hunger. Ditch the peeler, though; most of the fruit’s beneficial fiber is in the skin.
Grapefruit
Why you need them: According to researchers at Scripps Clinic in California, eating half a grapefruit before each meal may help you lose weight—up to one pound a week—even if you change nothing else about your diet. The study’s author, Ken Fujioka, MD, says a compound in grapefruit helps regulate insulin, a fat-storage hormone. “Anything that helps lower insulin can help people lose weight,” he explains. “Grapefruit seems to be one of those foods.”
Best way to work them in: Peel and segment; cut into chunks and add to spinach salad. It’s also a great companion with shrimp or peeled, sliced jicama.
Almonds
Why you need them: Eating a handful of almonds a day, along with a healthy diet, might help you zap fat, suggests research published in the International Journal of Obesity. Diet-study participants who ate almonds daily for six months lost 18% of their body fat. Those who followed a diet with the same amount of calories and protein but swapped almonds for an equal number of calories in complex carbs (like wheat crackers) lost only 11%.
Best way to work them in: They’re a great at-your-desk snack—22 almonds add up to one serving. Another idea: chop them finely and add them to oatmeal or yogurt.
Chocolate
Why you need it: Can’t resist a little rich chocolate? No need to: Dark chocolate—and other foods high in antioxidants—may help prevent the accumulation of fat cells in the body, a precursor to heart disease and obesity, according to new research from Taiwan published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry.
Best way to work it in: Melt a half-ounce of dark chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds and spread it on half a graham cracker; it’s just 98 calories.
Navy beans
Why you need them: They’re loaded with resistant starch, a powerful fat burner (one half-cup serves up nearly 10 grams of resistant starch). If you eat navy beans and other foods rich in resistant starch at just one meal a day, you’ll burn 25% more fat than you would otherwise, according to researchers at the University of Colorado.
Best way to work them in: Sauté diced onion and garlic in olive oil, add two cans of drained navy beans; purée and serve.

Orange County Boot Camp Fall Newsletter
Monday, October 27, 2008
From the desk of Dr. John Spencer Ellis
Now is the best time to make big strides in your life. That’s what I am doing. And that is what my mentors, who are far more successful than me, are doing, too. There are so many incredible opportunities in front of you - right now. Take a moment to learn how to cease them.
Follow my plan for thriving – not just surviving – in the fall of 2008.
1. Eliminate junk. When I say “junk” I am referring to excess papers, old magazines, full trash cans, your re-gifted gift, or VCR that you know you’ll never use. Donate anything worthy. Use the tax write-off.
2. Get organized. When your home, office and life are organized, you will make better decisions and benefit greatly in all of your small and larger daily tasks.
3. Get clear. You must get clear on exactly what you want to do. The clearer the image; the better and faster your results will appear. If you want to lose fat, you must know exactly how much and how you will do it.
4. Gain knowledge. You must have the knowledge to improve as a person or a business.
5. Become resourceful. Seek any and all opportunities to go from “where you are to where you want to be!” You can always use information in part, or full, or all aspects with existing knowledge.
6. Take advantage. While others ponder, piddle around and meander, you can be making huge strides with your life, your body and your business. This is the time!
7. Stop being inundated. After you get your fill of both sides of an issue touting there greatness, and bashing the other, turn off the TV. Being well informed is one thing, but being bombarded is another. Remember, stellar companies are born when others are afraid to act. People buying houses now will be much further ahead than if they wait. If you are in business, your time is now to gain and edge, move ahead, and let those who ponder be as they may.
I made a (re)commitment to myself on Saturday. I decided that I would seek every advantage available and gain any and all skills needed to have the opportunity to share my successes with those I inspire, and those I aspire to be. I want the same for you.
Now is the time to act and go after all that you want, desire, and deserve in life.
I’m always here to help you in any way I can.
The Orange County Adventure Boot Camp is offering a special 2-week holiday session (3 or 5 day option) beginning December 8th.
And, remember, The VIBC program is in full swing and there are less than 17 spaces remaining. The VIBC program offers 40% OFF of Orange County Adventure Boot Camp for 2009. Get the details online now.
Many of you have shown an interest in our life coach training programs offered through the Spencer Institute for Life Coach Training. We are pleased to announce the live training calendar for 2009 is now posted online. Get involved with the experience.
Stay focused and on track!
Be well.
John
PS – Tickets from the world premiere of The Compass will be available in two weeks. They will go quickly, so act fast when the information is released.

Orange County Boot Campers keep on moving!
Exercise and physical activity are important no matter regardless of the time of year. Living in Southern California, we are lucky enough to be able to enjoy the sun and nice weather year round. We can venture outdoors for sports, games or any type of physical activity and stay active without really having to think about it. As we dip into our cooler months, when the days are shorter and then sun isn’t quite as warm, it makes it a little more challenging to head outdoors for exercise. And it just so happens that during the coldest and shortest months of the year, we celebrate major holidays filled with food, drinks, and parties. Your physical activity should remain unchanged by the weather and should continue to stay on track no matter what events and celebrations are taking place. Motivation can be lost during this time, and finding the program and system that is right for you is a great way to say on track.
Attending a fitness boot camp, Orange County Adventure Boot Camp to be exact, is a great way to keep that motivation – and increase results - throughout the year. Rising at 5:00 am is invigorating and gives you a great sense of accomplishment right from the start. Having the accountability and knowing that your “fitness team” is expecting you gets you fired up! Also, knowing that you’ll be getting an amazing workout, and having surprises in your workout will keep you excited and curious. You are surrounded by women who are at camp for the same reasons as you -- to get their workout finished before the rest of the day starts, achieve amazing results, have a varying workout each day, and to be a part of a dynamic group that encourages you to do your very best. The workout is one hour in duration. However, it is an hour that no one can take from you. It is your opportunity to do something great for yourself and be in the beautiful outdoors. With our busy lives, we spend so much time indoors, so having the chance to work out in the morning air beats any workout you could do inside the gym. There is no comparison.
Orange County Adventure Boot Camp offers an hour long workout each morning from 5:30-6:30 am for women in the area. The focus of the workout varies each day. Cardio, strength training, flexibility, core (ab) work, circuits, relays, obstacle courses, functional training, and drills are all incorporated into the daily workouts. The camps are set up into four week programs with a definite start and end date. The same group of ladies remains together for the entire session adding to the motivating environment. Pre and post evaluations and a nutrition seminar accompany the workout, so each participant is given all the tools to succeed.
Enrollment is always at its peak in the summer. However, the program is always going strong through the fall. We still work with hundreds of ladies each month throughout Orange County. Get ready to get lean! You’ll burn and incredible 600 calories or more each morning. The results you will see in one camp session are incredible.
Exercise is all about consistency. It’s finding the right routine and right atmosphere that work for you. At OC Adventure Boot Camp, we take care of all that for you. All of you have to do is show up. Your boot camp instructor will guide you step-by-step to your leaner, stronger, healthier body.Register online today at http://www.ocbootcamp.com/ or call 949.713.5319 ext 212.

PS - I have exciting news about The Compass http://www.thecompass.tv/ I just returned from NYC. I was meeting with my literary agent Peter Miller. We secured deals for the movie and book in Holland, Brazil, Greece, Germany and the U.S. Our U.S. publisher is the same one who publishes Donald Trump's books. This confirms for me what I have known to be true. The Compass is going to revolutionize the world of personal development movies and books. Stay posted. Much more is coming soon.
PPS - Of course I had to exercise while in NYC. So, I lifted weights one day and walked 25 miles on Saturday. Yes, I did see the entire city. It took 10 hours. My legs are sore! http://www.thecompass.tv/

Thank you Lesa Wallace, for your support of OC Boot Camp and Olive Crest!
Orange County Adventure Boot Camp would like to thank Lesa Wallace for providing a fantastic opportunity to our boot campers. On Saturday, we hosted a trunk show at our corporate office for Lesa. Her handbags are gorgeous and were sold at such great deals. Some of our campers got some great bags for a steal! We also were able to collect some school supplies to give to Olive Crest. A portion of our proceeds will also go towards the charity. All in all, it was a win-win weekend!
Thanks again, Lesa!
P.S. Pictures coming soon!
